INTERMEDIATE - Gi
CYCLE 1 (Weeks 1–12) — Guard Attacks + Core Gi Chokes
Week 9 — Back Control + Bow and ArrowTechniques
Back Control / Control → Seatbelt + hook maintenance
Back Control / Submissions → Bow and arrow choke
Key cues: stay on the strong side; pull them to the choking side; hips behind hips.
Common mistakes: falling to the wrong side; losing hooks; choking with arms only.
Positional sparring start: start with seatbelt + one hook in.
To Win: choke or bottom escapes to guard/neutral.
Full rounds focus rule: Standing start, but once on the ground bottom player must attempt the week’s guard attack first (triangle/loop/omoplata/cross choke, etc.) before switching goals.
BEGINNERS - Gi
CYCLE 1 (Weeks 1–12) — Foundations
Week 9 — Open Guard + ToreandoTechniques
Guard / Open Guard / Control → Feet on hips control
Passing / Open Guard / Pass → Toreando pass
Key cues: feet “steering wheel”; passer = step, push legs, run around.
Common mistakes: bottom straight legs; top leaning forward.
Sparring start (1:00/partner): toreando-only passing vs feet-on-hips retention.
